It is always a good practice to reset the TP-LINK router password the first time you use it or when you want to make sure you can only access it.

Resetting your TP-Link router can be a useful troubleshooting step. You may have discovered unfamiliarity in your network or just need to start afresh; however, relocation is a good place to start.

To reset the TP-LINK router admin password,

    • Open the web browser and type the wireless router's IP address in the address bar, then click. The original IP address of the TP-Link router is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.

    • Type the username and password into the login page. The default username and password are both admin in lower case.
    • Click on Manage > Access Control > Password on the left-hand page, and type the old password and the new password.
    • Click Save or Apply to save the settings.

To change the TP-LINK router's Wi-Fi password

    • Open the web browser and enter the IP address of the wireless router in the address bar, and then click. The original IP address of the TP-Link router is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.

    • Enter the username and password on the login page. The default username and password are both lowercase "admin."
    • Click Wireless on the side of the page.
    • Click on "Wireless Security." This option is below the seamless menu on the side of the page.
    • See the WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK boxes below. It’s near the bottom of the loop.
    • Type in a new password. Go to the "password" field, although the password field may say "PSK 
    • Click Hi. This button is at the bottom of the page.
    • When asked, the answer is yes.System Tool.
    • Click Reboot. When asked, the answer is yes.

The factory reset clears all custom settings on your router; even your Wi-Fi name and password will disappear. Make sure you are ready to proceed.

How to reset a TP-Link router to factory defaults

via the Router's Web Interface

You can refer to How to access the Wi-Fi Routers-based Web Interface, then go to Advanced->Tools->Backup & Restore->Factory Default Restore, and then click on Factory Restore. and wait for the router to restart with its factory settings.
